Although in no case should it make us different in rights or obligations, gender is one of the most important variables from a demographic point of view and is also clear when we talk about League of Legends . Recently, some Riot Games employees explained that one of the great curiosities about the video game was the fact that the players almost exclusively used female champions, while the male audience was much less select when choosing. A situation that fans have wanted to investigate in depth and that has resulted in a gigantic and interesting study.
A survey that checks the myths of the League of Legends community
The creators of this study have compiled the responses of almost five thousand players to try to find the differences that separate men and women when it comes to League of Legends. A sample that mainly represents the Reddit community and has given rise to very curious conclusions. The first denies, although only one part, a myth of the community. It is true that women are less likely to opt for qualifying modes. However, the difference is lower than many expected: 59% of girls play qualifying games , while in the case of boys they do 67%.
Where more curious differences come in the variation of the type of champion used depending on the genre. Women are very not very prone to use Male's champions . Only 31% of League of legends female public even dare to try them, while of every 100 men there would be about 71 that would have no problems choosing them. In relation to this, men are also more likely to use heroes based on self-Ataques. However, the two major genres prefer the ‘skill shots’. We do not blame them, since throwing skills and hitting is one of the most satisfying things in the game.
Following the type of champions that women use, here we have a confirmed myth. There are many girls who decide to use a multitude of characters, but the sorcerers (Name, Soraya, Strafing...) are in the lead accompanied by the magicians with gust damage (Lux, HRI, Need...). These categories are the favorites of approximately 72.5% of the female audience . In the case of men it is more distributed, although the favorite roles are a shooter (43%), a Raleigh magician (38%) and colossus (35%). In addition, there are other curious data
- Women and men like hard types being in 35% of cases a very important reason to play a new champion.
- Only 2% of men consider it very important that a champion is of the same genre as them
- In general, women are more demanding with the artistic design of the champions, although in both cases it is very important (82% m compared to 85% h) the skills kit.
- The most physically attractive champion for both men and women is HRI
The truth is that reviewing the data, some great differences between men and women are notable in terms of enjoying League of Legends, especially in the chosen champions. However, The main reasons for making decisions are very similar in the two genera majority. The main difference in this regard is what type of gameplay it attracts more to one or the other. In the end, taste is a way during the socialization process and being a man or woman is one of the most important variables as long as others will treat us and, therefore, our interests will be generated.
As for the non-binary public or that is defined with another alternative, we do not have enough words of apology for omission throughout the article. Although those responsible for this study tried to collect data, the sample is not enough to represent the Reddit community. The indications do suggest that the results are a hybrid between the typically feminine and typically masculine tastes. We can only ask for understanding and commit ourselves to being ourselves who help this type of omissions disappear in the future.
