High -speed TPS Roller Dorome -Hybrid genre that combines roller skating and shooting [Developer Interview]
This project is an interview with the developer of the new indie game that you are interested in. This time, we will deliver a mini-interlocated show to developers Roller Dorome (ROLLERDROME) developers released on August 16 for ROLL7 development and PC/PS5/PS4.
This work is TPS for single play that combines roller skating and gun action. Players aim to be the champion of the new sport Roller Dorome, which is very popular in the near future, and reveal the true purpose of a large company behind the scenes. It has already been supported in Japanese.
Roller Dorome is being distributed for 4,180 yen.
— First, please introduce yourself. What is your favorite game?
Paul Rabbitte (Paul) Hello! It is a creative director of this work, Paul Rabbitte of Roll7. If you have to choose, I think your favorite game is probably the Metal Gear Solid V and Hitman series.
――Why did this work developed?
I like to think about a new game concept, but I thought this work was particularly interesting. At the beginning of the development, this work was a game I wanted to play very much, which was the start point and proceeded with the development. The mix of roller skating and shooting was natural and nicely, and this work was completed.
―― Please tell me the characteristics of this work.
The Paul-centered system is a new hybrid genre. In this work, it combines roller skating and shooting, creating an experience that combines old-fashioned arcade style such as Tony Hawk and intuitive battle shooters like 2016.
――What kind of person do you want this work to play?
PAUL This work is more likely to be a shooter than a skate game, so if you're a Fan of DOOM or a flashy shooter fan, you can enjoy this work. However, I think that people who like skating games can enjoy it.
— Is there any work influenced by this work?
The main source of inspiration is Paul's Tony Hawk and DOOM. In the movie, this work is influenced by science fiction movies such as Roller Ball, West World and THX 1138 in the 1970s.
――Are there any effect on development by the new Coronavirus?
Paul Fortunately, Roll7 is a remote studio (everyone has been developing from home before the pandemic), so it wasn't necessary to actually meet or work together in the office. However, it was a period of stress for everyone, so it was still difficult for the whole team, even though development was not directly affected.
――Is it okay to distribute or monetize this work?
Paul Yes, some people are already doing it! We are already watching great videos and distribution by his fans.
-Finally, please give a message to Japanese readers.
PAUL Thank you for playing this work. Our studio is all a big fan of Japanese games, so I hope everyone can enjoy our games.
--thank you very much.
